A career built around getting people moving again

Dr. Guier is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who treats problems across the whole musculoskeletal system: neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, back, hips, knees, ankles and feet. His special focus is sports trauma, the injuries that come from skiing, running, cycling and the everyday activities people love.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery at McGill University, then completed his surgical internship, orthopedic residency and a research year in rehabilitation medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He added a fellowship year in knee and shoulder surgery and sports traumatology in Lyon, France, training under Pierre Chambat, MD, Gilles Walch, MD and Henri Dejour, MD.

After his fellowship he served as physician to the Alpine Division of the French Ski Federation for the 1989–90 World Cup season. He then spent 25 years in practice in Jackson, Wyoming, before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014 to raise his family. Today he sees patients in San Francisco, in Santa Barbara, and by video.
